There is a tendency that a growing number of high school students are extending their knowledge during their spare time. By far, there are two common ways of teaching available: online teaching and face-to-face teaching. Personally speaking, I prefer the latter.
To begin with, despite the apparent convenience of online teaching, face-to-face teaching offer more chances for teachers to directly supervise the learning process of students, thus rendering effective-teaching. Teachers can, for example ,escalate their voice to help students concentrate if students show signs of mind-drifting, gradually slow down their talking speed if they find their students difficult to understand what they are saying and carry out a small test every time they finish the interpretation of one knowledge point.
In addition,face-to-face teaching creates more possibilities of close interaction and feedback-gathering. According to relevant papers of high school education, students actually learn more through instant and frequent interactions. Basically, students will have lots of doubts when they learn something new. As a result, they won’t quit thinking about those questions until they are responded with explanations. Thus, an interactive environment involving teachers makes for smooth learning of students. Besides, teachers need to gather feedback to adjust their methods to make their teaching more effective in class. And this obviously is not within the capability of online teaching.
In a word, face-to-face teaching prevails for its comparatively high effectiveness based on constant supervision and interactions. Hopefully, many students can eventually enrich their knowledge through face-to-face teaching.
